Moving in the Spirit, pt. 2

My Personal Tutor

Let’s learn this morning about the Holy Spirit and how He is our personal tutor.

But, let me summarize the first message that we began last week.

We stated that it was vital that there be an understanding of some of the Holy Spirit’s very basic nature. It was stated that the person of the Holy Spirit:

He is given to the follow of Christ, John 14:16 a-b.

He is the helper to those who believe in Him, John 14:16 a-b.

He will never leave His own, John 14:16c.

He is the influencer to His disciples, John 14:17a.

He can be known to all who receive Him, John 14:17b.

He will abide with the believer, John 14:17c.

What does it mean for the Holy Spirit to be my personal tutor?

  1. The person of the Holy Spirit will guide the believer into His nature of truth, John 14: 16-17, 16:13.

John 14:16-17 English Standard Version (ESV)

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

John 16:13

13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

  1. The person of the Holy Spirit’s nature of truth will lead the believer to Jesus Christ, John 15:26-27.

John 15:26-27

26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

  1. The person of the Holy Spirit’s nature of truth will be confirmed in His Word, John 14:16, 14:6, 15:26.

John 14:26

26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 15:26

26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.
