The Sovereignty of God and Calvary Community Church, Part Two
Last Sunday we studied the theme of the ‘Sovereignty of God,’ especially as it related to our church.
It was said that the words ‘Sovereignty of God’ could be basically defined as the ultimate rule and reign of God.
But, even though that definition is sound, the key is how the believer in Christ responds to God’s ultimate rule that counts.
Here is our response; we must change!
Ephesians 1:11 English Standard Version (ESV)
11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will.
Outline: Since God is in charge and it is imperative that we change, how do we comply?
- Change begins with humbleness.
1 Peter 5:6 English Standard Version
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.
- Change continues with responding to God’s justice.
Psalm 37:28 English Standard Version
28 For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints.
They are preserved forever but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
- Change is demanded as God’s truth is encounter.
Hebrews 4:12 English Standard Version
12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
- Change occurs as I enter His presence.
John 4:24 English Standard Version
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
