My Brother Told Me!

John 1:40-42  ESV

40 One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus[a] was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). 42 He brought him to Jesus.

Introduction: Story of Riley and Parker

This morning, like my grandson told his brother, let me tell you two important truths that God wants you to know.

  1. God wants you to come to know.

John 17:3

And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 10:10

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Romans 3:23

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9-10

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

  1. God wants you to be sure that you know Him.

1 John 5:13

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

Jude 22

22 And have mercy on those who doubt.
