Spirit, Soul and Body
This is the fourth and final message in the series; Spirit, Soul and Body. We have covered much ground and today we will look at some sound Biblical applications of the fact that we are a spirit, with a soul, housed in a body. There can be many applications and I will trust that you will get alone with God and make those, but today, I will give you just three.
Let us read our main text in 1 Thessalonians 5:23:
23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Since we are a spirit, with a soul, housed in a body, as a believer, we must daily follow Jesus Christ.
1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
- Since we are a spirit, with a soul, housed in a body, as a believer, we must daily love others for Jesus Christ.
1 John 4:7
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
- Since we are a spirit, with a soul, housed in a body, as a believer, we must daily learn from Jesus Christ.
1 John 2:27
27 But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.
Let us review our three applications.
